Security and PrivacySecurity is one of our highest priorities, and Geocomm Mapping understands that security is important to our customers as well. At Geocomm Mapping we respect your right to privacy and we understand that, as a visitor to geocommapping.com, you prefer to control your own personal information and preferences. For this reason, we may ask you to register or to provide your company information and preferences when you visit certain areas of geocommapping.com. We will guard the personal information you share with us to ensure the content, services, and advertising that we provide on geocommapping.com are always tailored to your current, designated preferences. When you provide Geocomm Mapping with your name (or alias), e-mail address, mailing address, or telephone number, and you do not “opt out,” Geocomm Mapping and Geocomm Mapping representatives and affiliates may use the provided information to alert you to special offers, updated information, new services, and other Geocomm Mapping information. Representatives and affiliates may include value-added resellers and authorized training partners. Beyond its representatives and affiliates, Geocomm Mapping does not offer or allow the selling of any user-provided information to third parties. Geocomm Mapping respects the rights users give us when opting to receive e-mail communications and enforces internal policies to preserve those rights. It is our objective to retain the long-term ability to continue to communicate with our users. If you do not want Geocomm Mapping or Geocomm Mapping representatives to contact you, you may "opt out" of this preference at any time, whether you're online or contacting Geocomm Mapping directly. As part of your preference flexibility, you'll always have the option to opt back in and have Geocomm Mapping contact you based on your previous or new preferences. For instructions, please see the section "Contact Us," below. If you choose not to register or provide personal information, you can still visit most areas at the Geocomm Mapping website; however, you will not have access to areas that require personal identification. If a user elects to use our "Tell A Colleague" application for forwarding a Geocomm Mapping e-mail to their colleague or informing a colleague about our website, we ask them for the colleague’s name and e-mail address. Geocomm Mapping will automatically send the colleague the specified e-mail or the specified website information. Geocomm Mapping will not use the colleague's information to contact them in the future. Use of log files (session cookies)Geocomm Mapping uses session management (session cookies) to authenticate and direct users to the appropriate pages on our site. Your company information or preferences are not stored or transmitted in cookies. The only information transmitted across the internet is a random session ID number generated on the server. How session cookies workIn order to customize a site’s content for an individual user, the user must first be identified. If multiple customized pages will be displayed, a way to keep track of which users are logged in is necessary, as most users would find it unacceptable to provide their user name and password for each of the site’s pages. Geocomm Mapping uses session management to accomplish this task. Session management allows a user’s requests for web pages during a given time period to be viewed as part of the same interactive session. Geocomm Mapping will not store persistent cookies on your computer. Session variables store information for the life of the user’s session and are deleted at the end of the session. The user’s session begins when he or she first opens a page within the application. The session ends when the user does not open another page in the application for a certain period of time, or when the user explicitly terminates the session (typically by clicking a "log-off" link). While it exists, the session is specific to an individual user, and every user has a separate session. Session variables can only function if the user’s browser is configured to accept cookies. The server creates a random session ID number that uniquely identifies the user when the session is first initiated, then sends a cookie containing the random session ID number to the user’s browser. When the user requests another page on the server, the server reads the cookie in the browser to identify the user and to retrieve the user’s session variables stored in the server’s memory. Personally identifiable information or preferences are not stored or transmitted in cookies. How Geocomm Mapping will protect your personal informationGeocomm Mapping will always protect the personal information that you share with us. Geocomm Mapping stores information internally in a controlled, secure environment. We occasionally hire other companies to provide limited services on our behalf. We will only provide those companies the information they need to deliver the service, and they are prohibited from using that information for any other purpose. If Geocomm Mapping requests general demographic information, this information is limited to reporting purposes only; members remain anonymous. Phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and postal addresses are never shared for demographic reports with outside entities. Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on our website.
